Sun protection – is anyone else as annoyed as me?
Please can I be permitted to have a little rant? Why is children’s sun protection cream sooooooo expensive? Why are we constantly being told that we must protect our children against the sun and then expected to take out a second mortgage to buy the bloody cream!?!? I know there are special offers on at the moment and you can buy 1 get one ½ price etc etc, but I only have one child and I wouldn’t get through that much sun cream so it would carry over to next year and it’ll be out of date then!!! Oooh, man it makes me so cross. It’s like everything else. Why is everything that is good for us so expensive?
Kat – our Tesco’s isn’t £3 a bottle! That’s not fair, is it? They’re out to get us, I’m telling you!!
Yeh I know what you mean, its because they know we HAVE to buy it, same as womens personal products!

i hope your not going for a branded name!!! the cheap ones work just as well as the expensive ones and your right they do only last about a year.but go for the deals and keep one in the fridge..not nice to keep looking at but it makes it last abit longer..you can do the same with make-up as well

You don't need to buy special kids lotion, any with a high factor number will do as long as they are protected from burning, they sell sun cream in the pound shop,no excuse now!lol I used it on my son and I last year and it was better than the expensive stuff.

I agree, just buy the cheapest. As long as it has a high protection it will do the job, you dont need to buy the one with all the fancy pictures on the bottle.

the government see suncream as a luxury not a necessity so you have to pay V.A.T on suncream for kids and adults even though skin cancer has highly risen
Superdrug have a petition to cancel out V.A.T on kids sunscream which i have signed

I have just bought a Tesco own brand Factor 30 and its UV rating is 5 stars, which is as important as the actual factor. It was £3.00. But the other brands, I agree are very expensive. Sometimes they have offers on, buy one get one free, as you say, but don't you find that they increase the price of the first one you buy, so you are still spending more!

If you insist on buying the branded ones why not bogof and share the cost with a friend or relative…makes sense
